Middelburg<\/strong> – The Government Communication and Information Systems (GCIS) is calling on Mpumalanga residents to participate in shaping South Africa\u2019s priorities ahead of the upcoming G20 Summit to be hosted in Johannesburg from 22 to 23 November 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Summit will focus on the theme, \u2018Solidarity, Equality and Sustainability\u2019<\/em> and aims to highlight Africa’s development agenda and strengthen cooperation among nations of the Global South.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Key agenda items include inclusive economic growth, food security, the use of artificial intelligence for development, climate resilience, sustainable debt practices and financing a just energy transition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The GCIS has partnered with several tertiary institutions, such as the University of Mpumalanga, in the province\u2019s three districts to raise awareness and encourage youth engagement in shaping the country\u2019s contributions to the G20 discussions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Nkangala District, GCIS partnered with Nkangala Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) College.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe want both young women and young men to contribute to policy briefs. Your input will be invaluable as you share your perspectives with the Presidency,” said Hlengiwe Nhlabathi-Mokota, GCIS Provincial Director, during an outreach event at Nkangala TVET College in Middelburg on 10 October 2025. “We’re committed to channeling this in the right direction so that by the time the President addresses the audience, you’ll have had the chance to reflect on what you’d like to contribute.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mlungwe Makhubela, Student Support Manager at Nkangala TVET College, said the partnership supports their goal of giving students international exposure. \u201cThere\u2019s a lot of global trade happening right now. If students can explore opportunities abroad, it could open doors or specialised training and skills development,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
