Mbombela<\/strong>\u2013 Forek Institute of Technology hosted a remarkable Safety Health Lifestyle marathon at the Tshwane University of Technology Mbombela Campus on 11 October 2025. The event aimed to promote a healthy lifestyle that embraces people of all ages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants could choose to run or walk, reinforcing the message that physical activity is for everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Forek\u2019s Group CEO Ernest Arnold Chinyuke said the institution\u2019s involvement went beyond sponsorship. \u201cWe want to make healthy living contagious, something that starts from childhood and carries through to old age. It\u2019s not about competition, it\u2019s about community,\u201d he said, adding that Forek designed the race to be family-friendly and inclusive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Forek partnered with organisations such as Old Mutual, TWK Agri, Shaya Maize Meal and Homechoice. These partners supported the elderly, ensuring they received warm meals, care packs and blankets during the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the 10 km open category for women, Nomvula Sithole from Uniswip RC emerged victorious, completing the race in 38 minutes and 33 seconds. Her remarkable performance showcased endurance and determination. Nomvula said participating in such races keeps her disciplined and motivated. Her victory inspired many women who took part in the event, proving that consistency and perseverance lead to success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the men\u2019s side, Tebogo Pilusa from Dwarsrivier Club dominated the 10 km race with an impressive time of 30 minutes and 31 seconds. \u201cRunning three minutes per kilometre is in my blood; normally, every race I know I\u2019m on the podium,\u201d said Pilusa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His confidence and dedication served as inspiration to young athletes to train seriously and stay focused. The Nkangala Athletics Club showcased their talent by claiming the top three positions in the junior male and female categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coach Emmanuel \u201cShaper\u201d Mabaso praised his team\u2019s performance, saying, \u201cOur club is very hard-working, disciplined and dedicated. In Nkangala, we produce quality, not quantity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He emphasised that the athletes\u2019 achievements reflect consistent practice, moral discipline and teamwork. These are lessons that extend beyond the track into everyday life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the most inspirational participants of the day was Ennos Ndimande, aged over 70, from Nedbank Club, who won first position in his age category with a time of 1 hour and 18 minutes. \u201cA win is a win regardless of the time. Here we are all winners as we fought unwanted fats and gained a healthy lifestyle,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The SHL marathon was more than a race; it was a celebration of health, unity and resilience. Forek Institute of Technology and its partners demonstrated that wellness is not just about competition \u2014 it\u2019s about community, inclusivity, and inspiring people of all ages to take charge of their health, one step at a time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
