{"id":4663,"date":"2025-04-04T16:06:56","date_gmt":"2025-04-04T14:06:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hconline.co.za\/?p=4663"},"modified":"2025-07-24T07:08:42","modified_gmt":"2025-07-24T07:08:42","slug":"eff-mpumalanga-chair-rejects-protection-order-violation-claims","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.highveldchronicle.co.za\/wp64\/eff-mpumalanga-chair-rejects-protection-order-violation-claims\/","title":{"rendered":"EFF Mpumalanga chair rejects protection order violation claims"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>MPUMALANGA \u2013<\/strong> EFF Mpumalanga leader Collen Sedibe has dismissed allegations that he is wanted by police for violating a protection order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sedibe told the <strong><em>Highveld Chronicle<\/em><\/strong> that he was concerned about false rumours being circulated in an attempt to damage his reputation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI get worried when people use the media to spread fake news and propaganda about others with intent to tarnish their image,\u201d he said on Thursday morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to information circulating through the grapevine, a warrant of arrest was allegedly issued against Sedibe by the Nelspruit Magistrate\u2019s Court for making death threats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This follows what is believed to be a quarrel between him and a Mpumalanga businessman, who allegedly accused Sedibe of sending WhatsApp messages threatening to kill him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The businessman further alleged that he noticed he was being followed by a vehicle and also received strange calls, which heightened his belief that his life was in danger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He then approached the court and obtained an interim protection order in February, prohibiting the EFF provincial chairperson from making the alleged threats or coming near his family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sedibe denied knowledge of any warrant of arrest, saying he was in court on March 23. \u201cThere is no such,\u201d he said. \u201cI have attended the court case and will be in court on June 4,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf someone obtains a protection order against you, the best thing to do is to go to court to present your case, which is what I did,\u201d Sedibe explained. \u201cWhat I know is that I have not violated any protection order.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MPUMALANGA \u2013 EFF Mpumalanga leader Collen Sedibe has dismissed allegations that he is wanted by police for violating a protection order.
