Unfortunately, these cancellations translate into a huge financial setback,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-1 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><ul class=\"blocks-gallery-grid\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dev.highveldchronicle.co.za\/wp64\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/IMG_0021.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"1403\" data-full-url=\"https:\/\/dev.highveldchronicle.co.za\/wp64\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/IMG_0021.jpg\" data-link=\"https:\/\/dev.highveldchronicle.co.za\/wp64\/?attachment_id=1403\" class=\"wp-image-1403\"\/><figcaption class=\"blocks-gallery-item__caption\">Innocent &#8220;The Revelation&#8221; Zweni from Delmas.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li><\/ul><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Another gospel maestro, Godfrey Mondlane, said invitations to perform outside the country have been put on hold. \u201cIt came at a time when I was preparing to honour invitations to perform in Mozambique, Swaziland and oversees,\u201d he said. Mondlane, who is also the organiser of the annual MTN Joyous Celebration tour taking place in July in Middelburg, said the event will no longer materialise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Innocent \u2018The Revelation\u201d Zweni could also recount the financial pain inflicted by the lockdown. \u201cI was supposed to perform in Zimbabwe and Mozambique, I had to cancel,\u201d he said. However, the artists can only find solace in the government&#8217;s social relief funding to ease their financial woes. The Department of Sports, Arts and Culture announced a R150 million relief fund for athletes and artists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-1 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-2 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><ul class=\"blocks-gallery-grid\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"639\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/dev.highveldchronicle.co.za\/wp64\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/IMG_0016-639x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"1402\" data-full-url=\"https:\/\/dev.highveldchronicle.co.za\/wp64\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/IMG_0016-e1597014839983.jpg\" data-link=\"https:\/\/dev.highveldchronicle.co.za\/wp64\/?attachment_id=1402\" class=\"wp-image-1402\"\/><figcaption class=\"blocks-gallery-item__caption\">Jay Jay Mnisi from Middelburg <\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li><\/ul><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking on radio interview, spokesperson to Minister Nathi Mthethwa, Masechaba Ndlovu, said that a total of 1050 applications have been assessed by the independent panel, 232 have been recommended for payments. \u201cOnly 603 were not recommended and 203 have been recommended for reassessments,\u201d she said. She added that the department has already started with the payment process for applicants who have already been approved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe cannot afford to wait for the entire adjudicating process to be complete before beneficiaries are paid.
